Creating my first Illustrative cover story for children.
This was an interesting project, I had to create an illustrative cover for London Latvian School children's year book inspired by Latvian Folklore.
Each year school prints new cover for a yearbook. This year was symbolic- with events happening in Ukraine, I wanted to display solidarity and unity with them, therefore including their flag and their symbol- Sunflower growing together with Beanstalk from Latvian folklore.
"Together we can achieve more " was the phrase I used as a cover story line.
The main character is Latvian Earth goddess Mara, who is the highest ranking goddess in Latvian Mythology, Mother Earth and a feminine counterpart to "Dievs" ( God).
Materials used-
Watercolour paints, glass paints, gold interior paint, Castle Arts watercolour pens, Acrylic paint, ink pen
Inspiration- references from other children's books , images of folklore and nature elements.
